Innovation & Custom Features Built the Unique Vancouver House
In the heart of Vancouver’s Beach District, the Vancouver House has become an iconic part of the skyline since its completion in 2020. Alongside Rodney Graham’s Spinning Chandelier, this neo-futurist skyscraper has transformed the growing community and gained international attention for its unique architectural design.
Bold Shape and Design
Designed by renowned Danish architect Bjarke Ingels and developed by Westbank Corporation, the Vancouver House stands out among the other skyscrapers in downtown Vancouver. Starting from a 6,000-square-foot triangular base, the building twists and expands as it rises, becoming a 14,000-square-foot rectangular structure at its peak. Its gravity-defying shape resembles a tornado spiraling through the skyline, making it a truly one-of-a-kind structure.
Custom Aluminum Balconies by East & West Alum Craft
A key architectural highlight of the Vancouver House is its custom anodized aluminum balconies, which were manufactured and installed by East & West Alum Craft.
These balconies feature a unique honeycomb texture and copper-cladded wall and soffit accents, giving them a distinct look that reflects light and creates a radiant glow at night. The pixelated design of the balconies adds to the building’s visual appeal and allows for spacious outdoor areas. Talk about a great way to blend aesthetics with practicality!
These glowing balconies enhance the building’s dramatic nighttime presence, visible throughout the Beach District.
Distinctive Floor Plans for Every Unit
Inside, the Vancouver House boasts 388 residential suites, each with its own unique layout. With over 220 different floor plans, the units were tailored to fit the building’s complex shape, offering residents exclusive and distinctive living spaces.
This design complexity ensures that unit layouts aren’t just a copy-and-paste, providing a custom experience for the residents. The beautifully crafted aluminum balconies further enhance people’s homes in the Vancouver House, blending seamlessly with the overall architectural vision.
A Landmark of Architectural Excellence
Even before the Vancouver House was finished, it was internationally recognized as a groundbreaking project. Now it stands as the 7th tallest building in Vancouver and encompasses 710,000 square feet of residential, retail, and commercial space. Its mix of luxury living and commercial use has turned it into a vibrant hub within the city’s popular Beach District.
